PerformancePoint MCTS Exam 70-556 Now Available

Via Adrian Downes:

Exam number 70-556 for PerformancePoint Server 2007 is now available for those interested in adding another MCTS arrow to their certification quiver.

Prometric already lists the exam on its site. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, Microsoft Learning does not yet have the exam listed. Nonetheless, we have access to Trika Harms zum Spreckel's preview of the requirements from when the exam was in its beta phase here.

UPDATE (29 Jan 2008): the official preparation guide for the exam can now be found at http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-556.mspx

Hello Nick, I am getting certified in a rush to bag a project, what do you recommend? i read both of your books top to bottom and I have gone thru msdn sites, but I could not find sample questions anywhere, no Transcenders or Measure ups yet, what do you recommend for the sample questions. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Hi Lee,

The best advice I can give is to look at the MS exam outline and concentrate on Planning more than M&A. Unfortunately the official certification practice test businesses have not yet released a 70-556 set of questions.

The usual cheat/braindump sites are doing their usual illegal trade of "sample" questions, though. Do not be tempted.

Cheers,
Nick

Hello Nick, I just want to let you know that I have passed the exam very comfortable, thanks a tonne to you and Adrian, I used msdn, training videos and your books. Now I want to get prepped up to face my first project, I know there are financials involved in PPS, how much of finance stuff do you need to know on a PPS project, what books/websites/blogs do you recommend? Again any information is much appreciated here.

Hi Lee,

Congrats on passing the exam. Glad the books were able to help.

The finanancial capabilities of PPS are large. Currently I don't know of any real source of knowledge that is available on this topic per se. The most comprehensive doco would be the TechNet stuff. Augment that by subscribing to blogs and keep up with the TechNet help groups. Increasing your accounting / finance / budgeting / forecasting knowledge by having a look for some books on Amazon may also be a good move

Sorry I can't be of more help here.

Cheers,
Nick

Hello Nick,

I have been trying to get hold of your book for this exam but it's not available in my country (Pakistan). I have looked into all popular book stores of the country but no avail.

Will it be possible if you can kindly share e-book (anwar136 at gmail dot com). I am kind of rushing into this certification. Will be thankful.

Sorry, no PDFs of the books exist. Try Amazon.
